Last Autumn, I was lucky enough to find a pre-1990s Burley bicycle trailer for the whopping good deal of $7 at a local yard sale. It was a pretty thrilling moment for me, as even trailers this old usually sell for upwards of $100 in these parts. It's a really good brand, even if it's sort of vintage-y as far as bike trailers go. Anyway, we've been working really hard the past couple of weeks to get the little gal comfortable riding in the trailer, and Monday I took her on our first "real" errand.
For the bargain price of $5 we were able to buy a super tall whip flag for the trailer, at my new favorite local bike shop, Open Road. They gave me some replacement snaps for the trailer at no cost!
My passenger was in high spirits at the beginning of the ride. I gave her a plethora of toys to entertain herself with, including a new purple bicycle horn (that you can see in the pocket inside the trailer next to her) which she honked most of the way to our destination.

Looks like E is going to have lots of fun riding around Missoula! I loved my burley so much when C was little.
I also went and read the recap of our epic Kirk Creek camp out. Seems like such a long time ago!

What fun! I'm so glad that E likes her trailer. The earlier you can get them hooked on bicycling the better!
I bet you felt pretty good yourself gettingout and about again! AND with your little sweetie too!
Way cool. She looks like she is L.O.V.I.N.G. it! That sounds like it would be fun. Can you ride by my house?
Maura, I hope she's going to have fun in her stroller. That's the dream anyway. Mitch had been wanting me to post about that Big Sur trip for a long time. I didn't realize HOW long ago it was until I took a look at some of the dates on the photos! Whoops!
Jody, I'm so glad she seems to be liking it too. I feel the same way, the sooner she's in to bicycling, the better! We'll make a green-baby out of her yet.
Anon- Yes, it's GREAT to be cycling again. I've been patiently waiting to get her in the trailer since the day she was born.
Nutty Knitter, Yes, it is so fun. Sure I'll ride by your house. Let's see, 1300 miles? I'll have to google map it to let you know how long it will take us ;)
